Abdominal Strengtheners That Won’t Stress Your Back or Neck

Abdominal muscles weaken and lose shape due to past pregnancies, surgeries, sitting at a desk all day, being sedentary and poor posture. Learn a series of extremely effective exercises to quickly strengthen all four layers of abdominal, WITHOUT stressing back or neck joints and WITHOUT getting on the floor. Common abdominal exercises like crunches can place too much stress on back and neck joints. As this course will be taught virtually, you will need access to video and audio on a computer, tablet or phone with internet connection. This class will be held on Zoom, which is free to use. The Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to the first day of class.

American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR AED & First Aid Training Certification Course

Learn to follow a plan to act quickly and effectively in a life-threatening situation. You will be trained in CPR and Airway Obstruction for adults, children, and infants by practicing your skills with manikins and AED (Automated External Defibrillators) trainers. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. Please inform your instructor if you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities. Consider bringing a pad or blanket to kneel on. Additionally, this course covers first aid. Learn a plan of action to recognize and deal with sudden illnesses, injuries, and environmental emergencies. This video-based, instructor-led course teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. Successful participation in this all in-person course results in an American Heart Association ‎Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED ‎Heartsaver® Certification. The Certificate is valid for two years. The course is the same for first timers and those who are recertifying. Note: We are back to fully in-person training. There is no e-Learning component to this course.

Celebrate a century of community by attending the Citywide Prom! This fun event will highlight the past 100 years of Eden Prairie Schools and raise funds for the Historic Gym as we look forward to what's next for this iconic community space. The Citywide Prom will take place the evening of May 18th in the Historic Gym and feature: Dress your decade attire (pull out an old formal, wear something you could have worn to your senior prom, or pick a decade and dress accordingly) Live music by Wondercure Remarks by Justice Paul Anderson and other community leaders and crowning of our prom royalty Engaging displays and celebrations of our past 100 years Opportunities to capture new memories in the photo booth Roundtrip shuttle service on SW Transit's signature trolley between the City Center (parking location) and the Historic Gym Add to the fun by purchasing a VIE (Very Important Eagle) Tent access ticket, which includes: Access to purchase beer--including the Unchaperoned Brew Fat Pants made specifically for this celebration--and wine sold by the Eden Prairie Lions Club Premium appetizers and sweets Early access to the event Commemorative gift Notes: This event is for adults only. Friday Family Field Trips Join Community Education select Fridays this summer for fun, educational family field trips. These trips provide a great opportunity for the entire family to learn together! WHO‭:‬‭ ‬ Eden Prairie Schools students ages 4+ with a caregiver! Families with multiple students are welcome to join, but all youth under 18 must attend with a registered adult. Register each person (all children and caregivers) attending. WHEN‭:‬‭ ‬ Select Fridays throughout the summer, beginning June 23. Times vary based on field trip/event. WHERE‭: A variety of locations throughout the Twin Cities! Busing will be provided to and from Central Middle School (CMS). SW Prime rides are available if you are unable to get to CMS. To be determined IMPORTANT NOTES‭: If you are registered and cannot attend, but do not communicate to Community Education staff by email or phone and do not show up, your registration for upcoming field trips will automatically be moved to the waitlist. If you’ve noticed hip/thigh/butt spread, you are not alone, and this workshop is for you. We have become a nation of professional sitters, causing lower body muscles to weaken and sag. In this workshop, you will learn: my famous ‘10 Minute Miracle Exercise’ series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density; decrease 2 inches off saddlebag area in 2 weeks; trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight; breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism; acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have time/money/inclination to haul yourself to a gym several times a week, you will love these powerful and effective techniques.
